The
real McCoy for Tysers
12th February
2009
Staff at independent Lloyd’s broker, Tysers, are still
celebrating the historic win at Plumpton earlier this week by jump
jockey, Tony McCoy.
The 13-time champion, Tony McCoy, became the first jump jockey
to reach 3,000 winners when he rode to victory aboard 13-8
favourite, Restless D’Artaix, in the Beginners’ Chase, which was
sponsored for the eighth time by Tysers.
Chairman, Christopher Spratt, was among the team from Tysers who
witnessed McCoy’s achievement on the rain sodden course.
He said: “It was a real privilege to see Tony McCoy achieve this
historic win and the fact that he achieved it in the race we
sponsored was just our small cherry on his cake. We were full of
admiration for his courage and determination because he had a
terrific tumble at the last fence in the previous race.”
Christopher Spratt and fellow directors, Gary Andrews and
Henrietta Butcher, added the icing to the cake by backing the
winner. Colleagues, Mark Titmuss, Kevin Chapman, Nick Crago and
Mark Baptiste who were also in the crowd, are keeping a lower
profile.
Meanwhile, Leukaemia Research has received a £1,000 donation
from the winning jockey, which Tysers had agreed to donate if he
won the race.
