We are delighted to announce the appointment of John Lentaigne as Global Head of Credit & Political Risk, effective from 27 August 2020.
John was previously appointed as the Chief Underwriting Officer at the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) in 2016 and later became the Acting Chief Executive Officer in 2019.
During his four years at the African Trade Insurance Agency, John substantially increased their exposures by over 350% from US$1.8bn to US$6.4bn whilst also increasing net profit by over 400% to US$28m and improving return on capital from 3.0% to 10.7%.
John has a strong track record of product innovation and has assisted in the design of a new sovereign financing system that has altered the way money can be borrowed, creating new pools of liquidity, lowering borrowing costs and extending debt profiles.
John brings a wealth of knowledge to Tysers and over 15 years of experience in the credit and political risk insurance market. He will work closely with the existing Tysers team, including Richard Macfarlane, Managing Director International Property & Casualty at Tysers and Toby Heppel, Director of Political Risk and Trade Credit at RFIB, to consolidate Tysers and RFIB’s political risk and credit capabilities, and to continue to organically grow the business over the next few years.
Commenting on the appointment, Jason Collins, Co-Head of Global Broking at Tysers, said:
“We are pleased to welcome John Lentaigne to Tysers. John will bring great leadership experience to Tysers and his skills will complement the strengths of the existing leadership team as they take the business forward and continue to deliver on our commitment to be the leading independent broker of choice.”
Commenting on the appointment, Toby Heppel, Director of Political Risk and Trade Credit at RFIB, said:
“I am delighted to welcome John to the Tysers team. John will be joining us at an exciting time, as we look to consolidate Tysers and RFIB’s Political Risk and Credit capabilities, and his expertise will be invaluable as we look diversify into new markets.”
Commenting on the appointment, John Lentaigne, Global Head of PRTC at Tysers, said:
“I am excited to join Tysers as the company has a strong position in the specialist Political Risk Trade Credit insurance market and several of their existing clients are in the multilateral space. This is a great opportunity for me to build on my recent experience working at African Trade Insurance Agency. Tysers 200-years legacy and long-term client relationships offers the perfect fit and I look forward to working with the Tysers team and expanding the network of clients.”
