Our Cargo Rejection insurance is 100% underwritten by Lloyd’s and covers either the exporter or the importer, subject to the terms of trade, in the event of rejection of cargo by either the state port health authorities or state veterinary authorities in the country of import.
The governing wording that would apply is the May 1975 clause, it can only be offered in conjunction with a marine transit cover from the same underwriters and not as a ‘stand alone’. Our product is purchased by clients exporting or importing into countries where the risk of rejection by governmental authorities at destination port is deemed to be high, this includes the FDA in the USA, health and veterinary authorities in the Middle East, and the Border Inspection Posts at EU frontiers.
Customarily the products covered are:
- Frozen Fish and Seafood
- Frozen Meat and Poultry
- Agricultural products transported in a temperature controlled environments
