Plant Hire / Hireshield Insurance
Plant Hire
HIRESHIELD INSURANCE SOLUTIONS
We are an established provider of insurance to the Plant Hire sector.
Conditions of hire between a plant hire firm and the hirer, will make the hirer responsible for loss or damage equipment during the hire period.
We understand that sometimes there are commercial reasons when a plant hire firm would not want the hirer to be liable for loss or damage. There are also instances where it would be very difficult for the hirer to obtain insurance to cover plant hired by them, especially when the hire periods are short term.
Our recommended Plant ‘All Risks’ Insurance policy has the option to include the Hireshield Subrogration waiver, which essentially means that a plant hire firm can waive their usual rights of recourse against the hirer and instead have the plant covered by their own policy. Some plant firms will increase their hire charges in instances where subrogation rights are waived.
Some of the solutions we arrange for plant hire firms include:
- Annual Plant All Risks policy, including the Hireshield Subrogration waiver
- Property Damage and Business Interruption Insurance
- Public/Products Liability Insurance
- Employers Liability Insurance
- Good In Transit Insurance
- Management Liability Insurance including Employment Practice Liability
- Cyber & Crime Insurance
- Inspection policies, relating to statutory required inspection of plant
Our solutions are underwritten by a carefully selected panel of insurers, based on their financial strength, policy cover, and ability to provide a first-class service to clients.

Public Liability Insurance
Public Liability insurance covers third party claims resulting from injury or damage to property, due to an insured’s business activities. Third-party claims are one of the most common claims made against contractors in the construction sector, so it’s important to have the right cover in place to protect your business.

Property Owners Insurance
-
Structural Warranty Insurance
Structural Warranty or Latent Defects Insurance protects the owner against the cost of rectifying structural defects of the owned building. A Structural Warranty must be purchased in advance of completion and usually lasts 10 years from original construction. Where a building is sold on completion, this warranty is passed on to the buyer and remains valid for the duration of the agreed warranty period.
-
Cyber & Crime Insurance
Cyber insurance is designed to help your business offset the costs of recovery after a cyber-related security breach, ransomware attack or similar event. A comprehensive cyber policy will cover you for the direct costs and liability to third parties following a cyber-attack. However, policies often exclude financial or asset losses incurred by your business following an attack.
Crime insurance protects your business against the financial losses incurred because of fraudulent activity (many policies include cyber events); criminals (including cyber criminals and employees) taking or misappropriating money, securities or property such as funds taken from your account.
