Tyser Risk Management (Bangladesh) Limited’s (TRMBL) Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of veteran banker Anis A. Khan as Advisor to the Board effective from 1st September 2020. Anis, a Bangladeshi citizen, comes to TRMBL with a wealth of knowledge, experience and extensive background in the banking and financial sector. A Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh (IBB), he has had 37 years of experience and training in banking, capital markets, management, and leadership practices. A career banker, Anis started his career with the then British-owned Grindlays Bank plc. as a Management Trainee in 1982 and went on to serve its successor banks – ANZ Grindlays Bank and Standard Chartered Bank – in a diverse array of roles both at home and abroad. Khan has led IDLC Finance Limited as its CEO & Managing Director for six years from 2003-2009 and also served as Chairman of the Bangladesh Leasing & Finance Companies Association for two terms of two-years each. He joined Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) in April 2009 as its Managing Director & CEO, and retired on November 30, 2019 having reached the statutory retirement age. MTB, under his leadership for over ten years, has achieved a leading position in the business arena. He has led the Association of Bankers Bangladesh (ABB) as its Chairman during 2016-2017 and also Primary Dealers Bangladesh Limited as Chairman for two years. He has also served two separate terms of two years each as Vice President of the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC). Khan is currently the Vice President of the country’s pre-eminent Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) and an Adjunct Faculty at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). He is the recipient of a number of recognitions and awards from prestigious institutions over his banking career.
Giving his reaction to the appointment, Khan said:
I am honored and excited to take this new advisory role and challenge in risk management and insurance at this stage of my life. I shall strive my utmost to contribute to better understanding, awareness and coverage of risk in Bangladesh, especially in light of the New Normal triggered by the COVID 19 pandemic.
Chris Sydenham, Managing Director of TRMBL, commented:
I speak on behalf of our colleagues in London and internationally when I say how delighted and proud we are to have Anis join our operation in Dhaka. He brings with him all the experience and expertise collected over a long and distinguished banking career and will add much to our strong and growing team here.
Tyser Risk Management (Bangladesh) Limited – TRMBL – was established in 2002 as a Dhaka-based Risk Management company to provide a range of services to support not only the local insurance market but also their International Reinsurers along with – increasingly – local and multi-national industrial groups and Investors in Bangladesh.
In the years ahead, and with further development within the country proceeding at a remarkable pace, TRMBL is confident that it will contribute increasingly to the stable and secure industrial growth to which the Bangladesh Government has committed itself. In the next stage of its development, TRMBL’s aim is to offer its services beyond this country and to reach clients in the Sub-Continent, South East and Far East Asian countries.
